Passion Driven, Cutting Edge, Customized Flight Training

Flying has been a passion since I was a young boy growing up in Singapore. As a CFI, my goal is to share that passion with all of my clients and help them enjoy aviation as much I do. Safety is a major priority of mine and I hope to instill good Risk Management and Aeronautical Decision Making in all the pilots that I train, thus making them ready for whatever aviation path they may follow.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly, whether as a career pilot or just for fun, contact me today and let's get you started. If your first flight is anything like mine, you will be hooked! I work with clients young or old and so it is never too early, or too late to start!

I also offer Demo Flights, Airplane Checkout and Familiarization Training, Flight Reviews, and Rusty Pilot Courses.

I currently offer training out of the Long Beach Flying Club and Flight Academy, conveniently located at Long Beach Airport (KLGB) in Long Beach, California. The club's fleet of well maintained and competitively priced Cessna 152s, Cessna 172s, Piper Warriors, and Piper Archers make an excellent training platform for any pilot.

All my training sessions comes with the promise of quality, dedication, and safety. I am currently a member in good standing of both the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI), and Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE).

I’ve never met anyone that I trust at the controls of plane more than RJ. And then he handed me the controls, but by that point he had explained enough of what he was doing that I felt confident enough to grab the stick. I also appreciated that RJ had an answer to every question I could possibly think to ask him. I can’t think of a better person to teach me to fly!

Everyone is capable of many wonderful things if they put their mind to it. See some of my student’s achievements here.

I am RJ

I grew up in Singapore and moved to Los Angeles in 2007. As Singapore does not have a General Aviation culture, the only way for one to learn how to fly was to be a pilot in the Air Force or to join Singapore Airlines as a Pilot. Neither seemed appealing to me so took a different route in life. but the passion for flying never left!

For the past 15 years, I have been working in the Film Industry on various TV Shows, Commercials, and Feature Films.

Flying has always been a passion and I started flying in 2012. I now have a Commercial Certificate with a Airplane Single and Multi Engine Land, & Instrument Airplane Rating, Advanced & Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate, Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single and Multi Engine and Instrument Airplane Ratings, and Remote Pilot Certificate with Small UAS Rating.

I will make safety a high priority, seek excellence in airmanship, develop, exercise, and teach good judgment, and aeronautical decision-making,
recognize and manage risks effectively, and teach sound principles of risk management, demonstrate and teach situational awareness, prudent operating practices and personal operating parameters, aspire to professionalism, act with responsibility and courtesy, and adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
